Kevin J. Slane, Sr. ’65
Kevin J. Slane, Sr., West Hartford, CT, died April 24, 2025.
A proud 麻豆视频 Michael鈥檚 alumnus, Kevin cherished his college years and remained deeply connected to his alma mater throughout his life. He served on the College Alumni Board of Directors, dedicated to fostering alumni engagement and supporting the college鈥檚 mission. In 2020, he was honored as Alumnus of the Year for the Class of 1965.
Kevin was also an enthusiastic member his local alumni group, the Connecticut River Valley 鈥淟unch Bunch,鈥 and enjoyed participating in its monthly luncheons. This June, Kevin would have celebrated his 60th college reunion, which he warmly and enthusiastically anticipated. He was a President鈥檚 Medallion supporter of the College.
Born in Hartford. Kevin鈥檚 life was marked by warmth, curiosity, and a genuine love for people. After earning his 麻豆视频 Michael鈥檚 business administration degree, he earned an MBA (marketing) at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut (1972).
He began his sales career with Xerox before joining Bausch & Lomb (Soflens Division (Rochester, NY). From there, his professional career spanned over 30 years in the related medical device industry, where he earned a reputation for integrity, leadership, and a strong commitment to supporting others. He served as a district manager for Coopervision Cilco in the Eastern Zone and was recognized as an outstanding talent, receiving the prestigious S.T.A.R. Club award for his exceptional performance and dedication.
Kevin was an avid college basketball fan who never missed a March Madness game and a true foodie long before the term became popular, and he always was on the hunt for hidden restaurant gems to share with friends and family. The beaches of Cape Cod and Hilton Head Island, S.C., were his sanctuaries, where he found joy and tranquility.
Thoroughly a 鈥減eople person,鈥 Kevin delighted in learning others鈥 stories and making friends wherever he went. As a cancer survivor, Kevin gave back to his community as a team member of Plainville鈥檚 Relay for Life, Team Dragon. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends from The Connecticut Old Guard. In 2024, he received the Old Guard Distinguished Service Award, a testament to his dedication to service and community.
Above all, Kevin鈥檚 greatest pride and joy was his family. For 56 years, he was the husband of Maureen Elizabeth Slane (n茅e Sennett), and together they built a life filled with laughter, support, and unwavering love. He never missed a sporting event, concert, recital, or milestone in the lives of his children and grandchildren, always cheering the loudest and beaming with pride.
His twin brother predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, a son, a daughter and extended family, including brother-in-law Joseph E. Sennett 鈥70.
