Â鶹ÊÓƵcompleting the American Studies major should:
• Â鶹ÊÓƵwill understand the development of American cultures in various historical contexts
• Â鶹ÊÓƵwill learn to situate U.S. national cultures and communities within local and global contexts
• Â鶹ÊÓƵwill competently utilize the theories and methods of American Studies
• Â鶹ÊÓƵwill apply critical reading skills to various media and types of texts
• Â鶹ÊÓƵwill culturally and historically contextualize a range of identity categories (e.g., race and ethnicity, gender, disability, sexuality, and class)
• Â鶹ÊÓƵwill complete a substantial independent research project
